Cake Recipes For Every Amateur Baker

Baking is therapeutic. There are so many people who wish to bake a cake in their leisure time or before some party/get together, they are planning. Whereas, there are some others who like to order cake online in Hyderabad or wherever they reside to get the party started. The main point is everyone loves cake and even though, baking them can get messy sometimes, people still happen to do it. Here are a few cake recipes that are sure to make you fall in love with baking.

Flourless Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 260g dark chocolate, broken into pieces
  • 260g butter
  • 1 tbsp strong coffee
  • 8 eggs, separated
  • 100g soft light brown sugar
  • 160g golden caster sugar
  • 85g cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cocoa nibs

Let’s Start Baking!

  • Start by greasing your baking pan with a generous amount of oil, baking spray or melted butter.
  • Now take a heatproof bowl and melt chocolate and butter in it. Set it aside.
  • Heat the oven to 160C/320F. In a food processor, put egg yolks and sugar, whisk until smooth.
  • Sift cocoa powder on top of the egg batter. Then add some salt and mix the batter at low speed until the cocoa is well combined.
  • Now pour the egg whites into a mixing bowl and whisk it nicely.
  • Fold in the melted chocolate mixture in the yolk batter. Top off some cocoa nibs, if needed.
  • Pour the batter into the already prepared pan and bake for 40-50 minutes.
  • Let it cool down completely by placing it on a wire rack before serving your loved ones.
  • Your flourless chocolate cake is ready to be relished. Enjoy!

Continental Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • 150 gm flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 50 gm chilled diced butter
  • 150 gm castor sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 ml milk
  • For the topping:
  • 3 apples- peeled, cored & sliced
  • 2 tbsp castor sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder

Let’s Start Baking!

  • Sift flour and baking powder together.
  • Pour butter, sugar, eggs and milk in a bowl together and give it a good whisk.
  • Spread this batter evenly in the already prepared pan. Arrange apple slices on top of the batter and dust it with some sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bake at 190 degrees C or until the cake turns golden brown in colour.
  • Let it cool down completely before you serve!
  • Your continental apple cake is ready to serve!

Butterless Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 Eggs
  • 3/4 cup flour/ maida
  • 3/4 cup castor sugar/ powdered sugar
  • 3/4 tsp vanilla essence
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • 2 Round 8” cake tins

Let’s Start Baking!

  • Cut two pieces of butter paper.
  • Meanwhile, grease the baking pan and sprinkle it with some flour and sugar.
  • Sieve the flour in a mixing bowl and set it aside.
  • One by one, add eggs and transfer them to the mixing bowl.
  • Beat sugar, vanilla, salt and baking powder and eggs together until light, creamy or foamy.
  • Fold in 1 tbsp of flour as you keep mixing the batter in upward and downward strokes. Add the rest of the flour in another two instalments.
  • Now divide the cake batter into two already prepared baking pans. Smoothen out the top by teh back of the spatula.
  • Place these baking pans in a preheated oven and bake for around 15 mins or so.
  • Let the cake cool down completely before serving.

Coffee Cake with Mocha Frosting

Ingredients For the cake:

  • 2 cups plain or all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups fine granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter (unsalted – softened)
  • 3 Tbsp coffee mixture ( 4 Tbsp instant coffee + 1 cup boiling water)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or soured milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Ingredients For the mocha frosting:

  • 1/2 cup + 3/4 cup butter unsalted, softened
  • 3 3/4 cups icing sugar / powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp instant coffee
  • 3 Tbsp dark cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 4 Tbsp heavy cream

Let’s start baking!

  • Start by preheating the oven at 350 degrees or 170 degrees C. Meanwhile grease the baking pans and set them aside.
  • In a large bowl, add sugar, flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt and baking soda. Mix well and set aside.
  • Melt some butter in a heatproof pan and add 3 tablespoons of instant coffee to 1 cup boiling water. Set aside.
  • Now add the melted butter to the coffee mixture and let it boil for a few minutes. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Now mix both the coffee mixture and this buttermilk mixture. Mix it nicely so that every ingredient is blended well.
  • Finally, add the egg mixture and bake for 20-22 minutes or until cooked.
  • Allow it to cool down completely before you proceed to frost.
  • To prepare the mocha icing, mix all the ingredients together and whisk until light and fluffy.
  • Ice your cake with this mocha frosting and let it set as you refrigerate it.
  • Serve the cake to your friends and family.
